Here in NYC we've been in social isolation for quite some time... so in response, Biolabs@NYULangone decided to find a way to meet with the new NY branch of IndieBio and their cohorts! Last week we gathered CEO's from all over the world to meet and greet "speed dating" style, under the title "Getting to Know You: An Interactive Life Science Meetup in a Time of Social Distance." Moderated by the Biolabs@NYULangone team, we did a staff meet and great prior to the main event with Julie Wolf and Sam Lee (who head the IndieBio communications and programming and teams) as well as our Lab Manager, Operations Manager, Site Coordinator, Events Manager and Managing Director (Nishta Rao).
Not only was it a fun break from all the daily meetings we're used to having, but we all walked away with new contacts, ideas for future events, and an appreciation for networking from the comfort of our couch. Our resident company Solvuu enjoyed it so much, they suggested we figure out how to bring this format to real life! Challenge accepted - It's safe to say we can't wait to host a repeat on-site at Biolabs@NYULangone some day soon! Until then, it was wonderful to welcome so many people to the New York Biotech Ecosystem. Big thanks to all in attendance: your participation was fantastic. This event was exactly what NYC is about!
